mine is almost 6 yrs old,
i’m thinking it’ll be good to go for a bit, but if not, i wonder if anyone makes em good anymore.

I am

XP, 3GB RAM, 160GB main Hard Drive, 1TB back up Hard Drive (used for storing videos, music), 500GB hard drive with all my photos and stuff on

I think that many drives is standard nowadays.
I’m also running 500GB & 750GB internals on my laptop, and a 2TB external for backup.

do any laptops have good screens anymore? IPS panel?
the thinkpad I have was one of the last they made.
lenovo thinkpads have fallen off over the yrs, idk if they’re worth it anymore.

I’m running xp as well, crazy that a 10yr old OS still works well.
the new macbook pro has an ips, supposedly slightly not as good color space, but better than non IPS.

I’m thinking software is the same regardless of which hardware is used, adobe suite, chrome browser, so the search should focus on best hardware avail.

man, hardware wise, all these lame laptop companies try to copy the shit apple does that that isn’t necessarily an improvement.

so hard to find:

4:3 format screens
good keyboards
actual buttons next to the mouse trackpad

hopefully IPS panels will make a comeback

i started this convo a while ago,
3GB of ram is kind of limited when dealing with large scans, or a lot of digital files.

i guess everyone else here is on an apple computer?
anyone know how well do those macbook pros do in outdoor use?
anyone buy used / refurbished?
